University of Liverpool Chair in Architecture


The Liverpool School of Architecture (LSA) wishes to appoint an energetic and forward-thinking Chair in Architecture who will contribute to envisioning and developing the future of the internationally renowned School of Architecture at University of Liverpool. You will be a passionate researcher with an excellent track-record of world-leading publications, and ambitious future research plans. Ideally this will include potential impact pathways also. The LSA particularly encourages applicants who have an interest in sustainability, architectural technology and environmental design. The LSA is also happy to hear from candidates who have other research and or design specialisms that will complement the school’s current thematic research groupings, a range of these include: Acoustics, Heritage, Architectural and Urban History, Digital Design Information and Innovation, Sustainable Environment analysis), Environmental History, Urbanism, Urban Form and Social Space and Architecture and the Visual Arts. Applicants with other areas of research expertise, including materiality, tectonics, practice-based research and design pedagogy are also welcome. Involvement in winning major research council funding and or also a proven record of securing other sources of research income is also expected.

You will have extensive experience in organisational leadership in research, pedagogy and/or practice. You will have a key role in refining and implementing the research and pedagogic strategies for Architecture, ensuring an outward looking and international agenda in both teaching and research and have a strong impact focus. On behalf of Architecture you will also provide leadership within the wider School of the Arts and the University.
