Architectural Histories invites applications for review editors. Working in close collaboration with the editor-in-chief Markus Lähteenmäki, their responsibilities will be to commission and edit scholarly rigorous reviews of new books, exhibitions, or multimedia projects.
Review Editors work one-on-one with authors to commission and develop appropriate content delivered in a timely fashion. They will also be expected to actively develop the reviews section of the journal to a more dynamic, original, and accessible direction. Prospective editors should be engaged, enthusiastic, and able to devote considerable time to the journal; a wide network and a broad view of the scholarly field as well as the field of architecture is an asset. In return, they get to be part of setting the future standards and directions for our field and for how scholarly inquiry on architecture unfolds through writing.
The call for applications is open to all regardless of nationality, institutional affiliation, discipline, or seniority, and there are no formal requirements. The position is unpaid. The term is for 4 years.
Applications should consist of a CV (max. 3 pages) and a one-page cover letter specifying the candidate’s field of expertise, editorial experience and vision, as well as their motivation for joining the journal. Please also indicate your area(s) of interest: books, exhibitions, or multimedia.
Please email applications with the subject line “Reviews Editors Call 2026” to Markus Lähteenmäki, editor-in-chief (editor-in-chief@journal.eahn.org) with cc: Laura diZerega (assistant-editor@journal.eahn.org) no later than Monday, July 5, 2026. Candidates will be notified via email and sit virtually with the Architectural Histories editorial team for an interview. The new members will be appointed and start their term in September.
