From the manicured parterres of Versailles to the rolling parklands of English stately homes, and from the classical statuary of the eighteenth century to Antony Gormley’s Angel of the North, patrons and designers have merged art with nature to manipulate and enhance the landscapes in which we live. This unique course explores the evolution of gardens and outdoor spaces, highlighting the work of successive generations of artists and architects and the cultural trends which inspired them.
