The Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture (gta) at ETH Zurich is pleased to announce the first biennial workshop for doctoral
research on the history and theory of European architecture, urbanism and landscape design. The workshop also addresses European relations to
colonial and postcolonial developments on other continents; the influence of non-European architects and planners, historians and
theorists in Europe; and debates about European architectural history and theory as the basis for the discipline as such – its past, its
methods and its constraints. Indeed, European architecture might only be thinkable through the existence of its limits.
Guests wishing to participate in the workshop discussions are welcome to join us on 1 June 2016, starting at 8:00 in the morning, for a full
day of paper presentations and stimulating conversation.
