JOB: Simpson Postdoctoral Fellow in Architecture. University of Edinburgh

Applications are invited for the Simpson Postdoctoral Fellowship in Architecture. This two-year post supports innovation in teaching and learning, support for knowledge exchange activities, and the opportunity to develop your own research.
The applicants will have been awarded a PhD in architecture or a closely related discipline within the last three years (dated from the application deadline) and are developing a substantial profile in their field. The post requires to develop and deliver innovative and responsive pedagogies within the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA). The particular field in which the Postdoctoral Fellow will operate can include design studio, architectural theory, history, tectonics, sustainability, landscape design, urbanism or digital media.
The applicants must include a proposal of no more than 1000 words with their application that outlines your research plans for the two years during which the post will be held and – critically – how it will contribute to our learning and teaching culture in ESALA, the Edinburgh College of Art (ECA), and the wider University.
The post asks to provide some support for ESALA’s activities in research and knowledge exchange, including events associated with the George Simpson Visiting Professorship and the programme of Geddes Fellows. This will require the applicant to demonstrate abilities in the planning, organisation, capturing, editing, publication (on-line and in print) and dissemination of high-profile events and discourse/ conversations with a range of international visitors George Simpson Visiting professor (1 per academic year) and Geddes Visiting Fellow public lectures (3 per academic year) and their related knowledge exchange activities.
The post is full time (35 hours per week) and fixed term for a period of 24 months.
This position is tenable from 1 September 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.
