CfP: Future Anterior: Preservation by Other Means: Contemporary Art and/in Heritage

Call for Papers: Future Anterior, Special Issue: Preservation by Other Means: Contemporary Art and/in Heritage.

Guest editors: Chad Elias (Dartmouth College, Chad.Elias@dartmouth.edu) and Mary K. Coffey (Dartmouth College, Mary.K.Coffey@dartmouth.edu), Department of Art History, Dartmouth College.
In this special issue, Future Anterior looks to contemporary artistic and architectural practices that open up a critical framework to mine the contested meanings and values of cultural heritage by intervening directly in it or by challenging the institutional containment of heritage within the museum/gallery. In recent years some of the most radical art production has targeted heritage sites.
The full call for papers is available here.
Articles submitted for peer review should be no more than 4000 words, with seven to ten illustrations.
Deadline for submission: 31 August 2017.
