Symposium: Being with Art / Being with Architecture. CIVA Foundation, Brussels, 22-23.09.2017.

On 22nd and 23rd september, CIVA Foundation organizes a two-day discussion: Being with Art / Being with Architecture. This event, initiated by the new department dedicated to contemporary culture and cities directed by Cedric Libert since January 2017, will be an opportunity to take risk and rethink the practice of curatorship and architecture in an institution that operates simultaneously as a space of conservation and curation, and a space of knowledge production. We will bring together various topics related to the raison d’être of an architecture centre, in the perspective of the integration of CIVA in the future Contemporary Art Centre in Citroën Garage Brussels. Also, underlining the relevance of cross-disciplinary praxis of art and architecture to produce exhibitions, this can lead to the exploration of both practices and the influence in the reflection and creation of contemporary environment. A series of conversations with international leading practitioners – architects, theoreticians, writers and curators – will take place to reflect on the stakes at play in a contemporary environment of art, culture and the city under constant probation. These discussions will be recorded and edited to lay the basis and objectives of a critical agenda. At this occasion will also be unveiled its founding Scientific Committee.
The programme of the Symposium and more information about the even can be accessed here.
