Call for Papers: Processes | Prozesse. Hannover – Herrenhausen, 12-14 April 2018

8th Symposium + PhD PeerReview on Design and Research in Architecture and Landscape

The symposium deals with forms, features and interactions of particular processes in research-related design and design-related ways of research in architecture, urban design and landscape architecture.
Which different kind of processes and process characteristics shape the dynamics of design and research against the background of various bodies of knowledge and different influences which are not always fully tangible? How do systematizing operations and creative acts intermingle? Which kind of design options and which kind of scientific possibilities and artefacts come to the fore? How are specific forms of knowledge and their interactions being generated, evaluated and transformed, and in which ways can they be understood and communicated as examples for the relevance of high quality design of the human living environment? These questions are equally addressed to designers of architecture and landscape as well as artistic actors and theorists.
A broad range of topics shall get into the focus, spanning from concepts, actors and procedures, over value settings, strategies and working formats, to media and communication tools as well as to cultural meaning of quality design and the transdisciplinary questioning of forms of knowledge.
Presentations of international guests from academia and studio practice will contribute to gather preliminary findings, specify fundamental layers of diverse process forms and their characteristics as well as areas of possibilities and research potentials.
Abstracts including individual research objectives, methods and possible results which relate to the topic of the symposium (max. 500 characters, German or English), and a short CV are to be submitted to m.buchert@igt-arch.uni-hannover.de by 21 February 2018. A publication with selected contribution is planned.
