The Environmental Design Archives (EDA) is pleased to offer two short-term research fellowships to support scholars conducting interdisciplinary and innovative research on-site at the EDA, located in Berkeley, California.

Research subject areas include reevaluation of the concept of the ruin as testament to life cycles of urban orders and, focusing on architectural practice, the dynamics of order | disorder in computational design.

The Schwarz Fellowship for Research on Urban Architecture supports innovative and cross-disciplinary research on architecture, urban planning, and the history of the built environment in Greece from 1821 to the present.

Guest Scholar grants are for established scholars, or individuals who have attained distinction in their fields. 

10 scholarships will be granted to interdisciplinary research projects in the field of Humanities; 1 scholarship will be granted to digitization-related research projects.

The scholarship is awarded for Subproject II, which evaluates the significance of monuments and cultural assets for disaster management since 1945, focusing on earthquakes in Italy and the former Yugoslavia.

The CoAD Emerging Scholar Fellowship is a two-year combined research and teaching fellowship awarded to a promising scholar focusing on the history and theory of the design disciplines.

The Visiting Fellows Research Program supports short term residencies of up to one month for scholars to work on innovative research concerned with the history, theory, and criticism of architecture.

The second Fellowship season focuses on two topics: Earthwork Ethics and Local Narratives, with each Fellowship based around a specific research project.

In 2022-2024, the inaugural fellowship theme REPAIR is intended to uncover the diverse forms of maintenance and care that sustain the contemporary built environment.

Training and work experience placements are typically available in areas such as curatorial, education, conservation, research, publications, web and new media, public programs, digital projects, and grantmaking.

The Junior Fellows will collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Assistant of Architectural Histories, as well as members of the editorial board, in order to gain an understanding of how a field journal operates.
